Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan, Lee Metzger, and David Glasser have joined forces to create The Road, an exciting new singing competition series that CBS has picked up for a fall 2025 premiere. While specific details on who will headline the show remain under wraps, the star-studded team behind the series promises an unfiltered, intense look at the world of music and touring.

Blake Shelton, a country music legend and seasoned veteran of singing competitions, expressed his excitement about the project. “I’m a big fan of Taylor’s incredible work, and I’m excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on The Road,” Shelton shared. “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.” Shelton will work alongside Sheridan, Metzger, and Glasser as executive producers for the show, with the backing of MTV Entertainment Studios, Glasser’s 101 Studios, and Shelton and Metzger’s Lucky Horseshoe Productions.

Sheridan, renowned for his work on hit series like Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown, sees the series as a revolutionary shift in how country music is experienced. “There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture,” said Sheridan. “No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road – literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that.”

CBS describes The Road as offering viewers a rare, behind-the-scenes pass into the hard, often gritty life of a touring artist. As aspiring singers join established performers on the road, they will compete to win over local fanbases. The tour bus becomes their stage, and the stakes are high: If they win over enough crowds, they get to stay on the tour. This series promises to showcase the raw reality of the music industry, where only the most dedicated will make it to the top.
