John Krasinski’s new title as People’s Sexiest Man Alive is about to come with some unexpected consequences.
The 45-year-old actor joked that while his wife, Emily Blunt, was “very excited” about the honor, it won’t make life any easier for him at home. In fact, he suspects it might even lead to more responsibilities. “I think it’s going to make me do more household chores,” Krasinski told People in his cover story. “After this comes out, she’ll be like, ‘All right, that means you’re going to really earn it here at home.’”
Blunt, who shares daughters Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8, with Krasinski, also has plans for some home décor changes, joking that she’ll be wallpapering the house with his sexy new cover. “Do we have that on camera? Because that’s like a binding contract, I think,” Krasinski quipped. “My children will love that, it won’t be weird at all.”
Despite the playful remarks, Krasinski shared that revealing the news to Blunt brought him “a lot of joy.” He also reflected on their relationship, saying, “It’s that beautiful thing where when you’re married to someone, you’re constantly learning and changing and evolving. And I’m so lucky to go through all that with her.”
As for Krasinski’s own reaction to being named Sexiest Man Alive, he admitted to being in disbelief. “Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” he said. “Other than maybe I’m being punked. That’s not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day that I’ll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me.”
Krasinski, who succeeded Patrick Dempsey as the 2023 titleholder, wasn’t the only one honored in the issue. Other notable mentions included Wicked star Jonathan Bailey, Robert Pattinson, Jacob Elordi, and HGTV’s Chip Gaines.
Looking back on Krasinski and Blunt’s relationship, the couple’s story began in 2008 when Krasinski describes it as love at first sight.
