owner of SpaceX, Elon Musk is in support of Trump as he endorsed Trump in July and is currently leveraging his pocketbook to support him to come back to the white house.

Elon Musk has created an organization to support former president Donald Trump in the 2024 elections and he has invested about 75m in three months to uplift him.

In a federal disclosure, they revealed how Musk is involved in as a key piece of Trump’s efforts to win the November elections against democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

This also highlights the persistent influence of mega-donors in U.S. politics.

musk revealed about the speaker to the right-wing personality Tucker Carlson earlier this month that he had created the group, known as a political action committee or PAC to support the core values that I believe in,’’

The group, called the America PAC, outlines its values as advocating for secure borders, responsible spending, safe communities, a fair justice system, free speech, and the right to self-defense.

Musk who owns three different companies tesla, the social media platform and the aerospace company SpaceX is considered to be one of the wealthiest men in the world.

The South Africa-born entrepreneur, Elon Musk, endorsed Donald Trump following an attempted assassination against the former president in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July. Musk later accompanied Trump on the campaign trail, returning to Butler for another rally in October. During the rally, Musk, wearing a black “Make America Great Again” hat, declared, “As you can see, I am not just MAGA. I am dark MAGA.” He went on to say that Democrats aim to strip Americans of their freedom of speech, their right to bear arms, and, effectively, their right to vote.

Trump frequently mentioned Musk’s endorsement throughout his campaign and promised to appoint Musk to lead a new government efficiency commission if he wins back the White House in November. As of October 9, Musk’s America PAC had spent $87 million on the election, focusing primarily on voter mobilization and canvassing efforts in key battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona.

Following the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United ruling, corporations can spend unlimited amounts on political activities supporting candidates, provided they do not coordinate directly with a campaign. Before this ruling, corporate political spending was capped. The Citizens United decision led to the rise of super PACs, which can raise unlimited funds, unlike traditional PACs. This has contributed to a sharp increase in election spending, including the rise of “dark money,” where individuals can conceal their political donations through shell companies.

Spending in U.S. elections has soared, and experts predict it will surpass the $15.1 billion spent in the 2020 election cycle, which, adjusted for inflation, is worth about $18.3 billion today. Open Secrets reports that outside spending, including through Musk’s America PAC has significantly outpaced previous cycles. Nearly outside groups this year, almost $1 billion, have already spent $2.6 billion more than the same point in 2020. This year, outside spending has predominantly favored conservatives, a shift from the previous election cycle when liberals received more.
