Israel Strikes Beirut, Lebanon; Cabinet to Discuss Potential Truce Agreement

Israel’s security cabinet is reportedly on the verge of approving a ceasefire plan aimed at halting hostilities with Lebanon’s Hezbollah, as final details are being negotiated. This comes amidst growing tensions and escalating violence in the region.

In the past 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes have intensified over Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, after Israeli forces killed at least 31 people in the city. In retaliation, Hezbollah has resumed rocket fire on Israeli territory, further deepening the conflict.

Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces have continued their air assaults, killing 11 Palestinians in three separate attacks on Gaza’s northern region. The ongoing violence has exacerbated the already dire conditions for the displaced population, with heavy rainfall and rising tides adding to the suffering of those living in makeshift tents.

The ongoing Israeli military operation in Gaza, which began after the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, has resulted in a staggering loss of life. Reports indicate that at least 44,249 Palestinians have been killed, with 104,746 others wounded. In Israel, the attacks on October 7 resulted in the deaths of at least 1,139 people, with more than 200 individuals taken captive.

Lebanon, too, has felt the impact of the conflict. Since the war’s escalation, at least 3,768 people have been killed, and 15,699 others have been wounded in Israeli airstrikes across the country. As the situation worsens, international calls for a resolution continue to grow.
