Mohamed Salah has expressed disappointment over Liverpool’s failure to present him with a new contract offer, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season. The 32-year-old Egyptian striker, who has been an instrumental figure at Anfield since his arrival in 2017, revealed his frustrations after scoring twice in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory at Southampton on Sunday, which moved the team eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Despite his stellar form, Salah admitted he feels increasingly uncertain about his future at the club. “We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club,” he said. “I’m probably more out than in.”
Salah’s candid comments suggest the possibility of him leaving Liverpool for free when his contract expires, a situation that could see him part ways with the club that helped him win both the Champions League and Premier League titles.
“It’s been many years with the club, and there is no club like this,” Salah continued. “But in the end, it’s not in my hands.”
Salah is not the only Liverpool player facing contract uncertainty. Teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also entering the final stages of their contracts, with all three players set to be free to negotiate with foreign clubs as early as January if new deals are not signed.
When asked about his disappointment over the lack of contract discussions, Salah didn’t shy away: “Of course, yeah. I love the fans, and the fans love me. But ultimately, it’s not in my hands or the fans’ hands. We’ll have to wait and see.”
Salah, however, remains focused on the present, stating he is determined to continue playing at the highest level. “I’m not going to retire soon,” he said. “I’m just focusing on the season, trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. It’s disappointing, but we’ll see what happens.
